These Payment & Service Terms (“Terms”) govern the professional marketing and consulting services provided by the Consultant to the Client.
For purposes of these Terms:
· “Consultant” refers to Rachel Richardson (or the legal business entity through which services are provided, if applicable), including any authorized representatives or contractors acting on the Consultant’s behalf.
· “Client” refers to the individual, business, nonprofit organization, or other entity purchasing or engaging the Consultant’s services.
By purchasing, booking, or otherwise engaging the Consultant’s services, the Client acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
Deposit & Payment
A non-refundable deposit equal to 25% of the total service fee is required to reserve a project or consultation. Services are not confirmed until the deposit has been received.
The remaining balance is due upon completion of the agreed-upon service unless otherwise outlined in a written proposal, invoice, or service agreement.
Invoices are payable upon receipt unless otherwise specified. The Consultant reserves the right to suspend work until outstanding balances have been paid.
Consultant’s Standard Hourly Rate
Unless otherwise specified in a written agreement, the Consultant’s standard hourly rate is $67 per hour. The Consultant reserves the right to modify this rate at any time. The hourly rate in effect at the time additional services are performed or a project is canceled will apply.
Client Responsibilities
To ensure projects remain on schedule, the Client agrees to:
· Provide requested information, files, and feedback in a timely manner.
· Confirm scheduled meetings or strategy sessions when requested.
· Attend scheduled meetings or provide at least 24 hours’ notice if rescheduling is necessary.
· Respond to reasonable requests for information, approvals, or materials needed to complete the project.
Delays in providing required information, approvals, or meeting availability may result in delayed project timelines.
Project Delays
If the Client does not provide the information, approvals, or participation necessary to complete the project within a reasonable timeframe, the Consultant reserves the right to pause or reschedule the project.
If the project cannot be completed due to the Client’s failure to provide requested information, approvals, or participation after reasonable attempts to communicate, the Consultant may consider the project closed. Any outstanding balance for work completed will become immediately due.
Cancellation
The Client may cancel a project at any time; however, the initial 25% deposit is non-refundable.
If a project is canceled before completion, the Client is responsible for payment for all work completed at the Consultant’s standard hourly rate in effect at the time of cancellation. The Consultant will maintain reasonable records of time spent on the project and, upon request, will provide an itemized summary of hours worked to ensure the Client is billed fairly and accurately. Any accrued fees exceeding the deposit amount will be invoiced and are due upon receipt.
If the agreed-upon scope of work has been substantially completed or all contracted deliverables have been provided, the full project fee remains due, regardless of whether the Client chooses to implement or use the final recommendations or deliverables.
The Consultant reserves the right to decline, pause, suspend, or terminate services at the Consultant’s sole discretion. If services are paused or terminated due to the Client’s lack of communication, failure to provide requested information, repeated missed meetings, abusive or inappropriate behavior, or violation of these Terms, the Client remains responsible for payment for all work completed. If sufficient Client participation is not provided to complete the project, the Consultant may consider the project closed after reasonable attempts to communicate, and any outstanding balance for work performed will become immediately due.
Communication
Communication will primarily take place via email and scheduled virtual meetings. Timely communication by both the Consultant and the Client helps ensure projects are completed within the agreed timeline.
Intellectual Property
All recommendations, strategies, written materials, frameworks, concepts, deliverables, and other work product created by the Consultant remain the intellectual property of the Consultant until payment has been received in full.
Upon receipt of full payment, ownership of the final deliverables transfers to the Client. The Consultant retains ownership of any pre-existing templates, methodologies, frameworks, processes, proprietary tools, know-how, or materials developed independently of the Client’s project.
The Consultant reserves the right to display completed work, excluding confidential or proprietary Client information, in portfolios, marketing materials, case studies, social media, or other promotional materials unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
Limitation of Results
Marketing recommendations and services are based on professional experience, industry knowledge, and best practices. Because business results are influenced by numerous factors outside the Consultant’s control, no guarantee is made regarding revenue, leads, sales, search rankings, customer acquisition, or any other specific business outcome.
Right to Refuse Service
The Consultant reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or discontinue services at any time if a project falls outside the agreed scope of work, the working relationship becomes unproductive, the Client violates these Terms, or continuing the engagement would be inappropriate or impractical.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services provided shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Colorado.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Consultant’s total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the services provided shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client for the applicable service. Under no circumstances shall the Consultant be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost profits, lost business opportunities, business interruption, or loss of data.
Force Majeure
The Consultant shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform services due to circumstances beyond the Consultant’s reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, severe weather, illness, internet or technology outages, government actions, labor disputes, or other unforeseen events. In such circumstances, the Consultant will make reasonable efforts to resume services as soon as practicable.
Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the Client and the Consultant with respect to the services provided and supersede any prior discussions, communications, or understandings relating to those services unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Modifications
The Consultant reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will apply to future services and projects. The version of these Terms in effect at the time a service is purchased or booked will govern that engagement.
Acceptance of Terms
By purchasing, scheduling, or otherwise engaging the Consultant’s services, the Client acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.

-
You don't need a large marketing budget to make an impact, you need a clear strategy and consistency. Instead of trying every marketing tactic at once, focus on the activities most likely to reach your ideal customers. For many small businesses, that means starting with a well-optimized website, local SEO, in-person events and meaningful connections, email marketing, consistent social media, and valuable content that answers customer questions. A focused marketing plan almost always outperforms scattered efforts.
-
The first thing I’ll look at if marketing isn’t generating leads is the customer journey and whether there is any inconsistency in that process. Are each of your tactics clear, featuring consistent design, and easy to take action on?
There are a lot of elements that can be tweaked to improve your lead generation! Your messaging may not clearly communicate your value, you may be targeting the wrong audience, your calls to action may be unclear, or your website may not be converting visitors into inquiries. A marketing audit can help identify what's working, what's not, and where to focus your efforts for better results.
-
A successful marketing plan starts with understanding your business goals and your customers. From there, define your ideal audience, clarify your messaging, identify the marketing channels that make the most sense for your business, establish measurable goals, and create a realistic content calendar. Your marketing plan should serve as a roadmap that guides every campaign, piece of content, and customer interaction.

-
When you're starting a business, it's tempting to try everything at once. Instead, focus on building a strong foundation. That includes developing clear brand messaging, creating a professional website, optimizing your local search presence, collecting customer reviews, building an email list, and consistently creating helpful content. Once those pieces are in place, it's much easier to expand into additional marketing channels.
Most importantly, make sure they’re all connected, so your audience can further explore each of your offerings from the moment they interact with your ad, social pages, or website.
-
Consistency matters more than frequency. For many small businesses, one or two emails each month may be enough to stay connected with customers without overwhelming them. The most effective email marketing provides value through educational content, helpful resources, company updates, or special offers rather than only promotional messages.
The type of relationship you have with your customers also matters. Loyal customers may want to see your newsletter but may not be interested in every onboarding email you send out. New customers may want to learn more about the product or promotions, but may not want a monthly update just yet. Take the time to understand your audience and create email messages that support those relationships.
-
Branding defines who you are—it’s how you’re remembers. Marketing communicates that value to the people you want to reach—it’s how you get them to remember.
Your brand includes your mission, personality, voice, visual identity, and customer experience. Marketing includes the strategies and tactics you use: email marketing, social media, content marketing, SEO, advertising, and events—to build awareness and generate business. Strong marketing is built on a strong brand.
-
Many businesses hire a marketing consultant when they're preparing for growth, launching a new service, refreshing their brand, struggling to generate leads, or feeling overwhelmed by marketing. A consultant provides strategic guidance, helps prioritize opportunities, and creates a clear marketing roadmap so you can invest your time and budget where they'll have the greatest impact.
-
Yes—but not by relying on one marketing tactic alone. A marketing consultant should help you improve the entire customer journey, from increasing visibility and attracting qualified prospects to strengthening messaging, improving website conversions, and creating campaigns that nurture customer relationships. Better marketing creates more opportunities for sustainable business growth.
-
Just like with people, you can deepen your trust with marketing by seeing how campaigns perform over time.
The right metrics depend on your business goals. Some businesses measure website traffic, search rankings, email engagement, or social media growth, while others focus on leads, sales, customer retention, or event registrations.
The key is identifying meaningful performance indicators that connect marketing efforts to real business outcomes instead of relying solely on vanity metrics.
-
Focusing on one email or one sentence in a social post will not do the trick. Content strategy, and strategy in general, starts from a bird’s eye view. What are you trying to accomplish with all of your content this year? What do you want your brand to be remembered for? What are you business goals, and how often do you need to hit them?
From there, you can get into the audience, messaging, tactics, and schedule.
A content strategy starts with your audience—not your products or services. Begin by identifying the questions your customers ask most often and create content that answers those questions through blogs, email newsletters, social media, videos, guides, or webinars.
Organize your ideas into an editorial calendar and create content consistently. Over time, a strategic content plan helps build trust, improve SEO, and support long-term business growth.
